Није могуће са мало мисли и мало речи да дочарамо Божић, празник који данас славимо, драга децо духовна, браћо и сестре у Христу Господу. Божић је дан у који је рођен Богочовек у Витлејему јудејском од Духа Светога и Пресвете Богородице. У чему је суштина овог догађаја? На ово питање свети Еванђелист одговара:"У томе се показа љубав Божија према нама што је Бог Сина својега Јединороднога послао у свет да живимо Њиме".(I Јн IV ,9).

У Старом завету људи су осећали да је Бог далеко од њих и да су они далеко од Бога. О томе су писали свети Божији људи, говорили пророци и певали духовни песници. Сањали су и чезнули да се приближе Богу и да се Бог приближи њима. Божић је догађај када су остварене те вековне чежње и духовни снови људи старога света. Бог се родио као човек и нашао се у близини свих људи. Није више далеко, као што су они мислили, на некој далекој планини. Богочовек је дошао на земљу као Спаситељ. Не као небески законодавац, са збирком закона и прописа религиских, моралних или друштвених. Дошао је као Спаситељ да стално спасава људе, да им указује на праве путеве живота, да дели с њима радост и болове, да им помогне у ношењу бремена живота, да им прашта и да их чисти од грехова, да их стално учи ко су, одакле су и куда иду. Божић није крај једне приче, већ вечити почетак догађаја који се поново догађа са рођењем сваког човека на земљи. По читавом свету многи људи пишу и говоре постављајући питање: зашто смо онемоћали? Онемоћали у браку и породици. Онемоћали у рађању и васпитању нових поколења. Онемоћали у међусобним односима – друштвеним, међунационалним и међународним. Онемоћали у вођењу послова, привреде, школства, образовања. На многим плановима живота дошло је до страховања, опасности, ратова и криза разних врста. У једној причи описан је један тужан догађај. Дошла је мајка код лекара и довела свог јединца сина молећи да му лекар да неку инекцију против наркоманије. Пошто је лекар подуже разговарао са оним несрећним младићем, рекао је мајци:"Нема такве инекције којом би се могла излећити младићева болест. Он не види пред собом ништа радосно, ни добро, ни лепо. Све му је црно пред очима. Он болује од безсмисла, безнађа, разочарења. Ту и на том плану треба да се лечи.”

И у многим другим случајевима дошло је до великих несрећа, невоља и криза, због тога што су људи изгубили осећање и свест о правом смислу и задатку живота."Мисле да су живи, а мртви су",вели божанствени тајновидац. Не знају ко су и какви су. Не знају одакле су и куда треба да иду.

Први Божић су многи поздравили и многи су Му се обрадовали: небески анђели, витлаемски пастири, истични мудраци и многи други. Други су се опет забринули, ожалостили, па чак и уплашили. Међу овима је био први цар Ирод, највиши представник оне средине и оног времена. Био је човек бистра ума, али веома зле нарави, мутнога срца и нечисте савести. Био је убица, чак и своје рођене деце, вишеструку браколомник, подоскрвнитељ, сладострастник и среброљубац."Какво је то чудо у Витлејему? Није ли се родио неки пророк, неки будући владар, који би могао да угрози мој престо, моју сигурност и моју удобност?" Taкo је у себи мислио Ирод. Због тога је одлучио да "погуби Дете", који се на чудан начин родило у Витлејему. Пошто га не нађе, "разгневи се врло и посла те погуби сву децу по Витлејему и по свој околини његовој од две године на ниже."( Mт. II, 16). Тако се испунило и пророштво Јеремијино:"Глас у Риму чу се, плач и ридање и нарицање много. Рахиља оплакује децу своју, и неће да се утеши, јер их нема." ( Mт. II, 17 – 18). То је било пре двадесет векова.

Витлејемски Богомладенац се непрестано кроз векове рађа у срцима многих милиона људи, као некада у Витлејему, Тако се Он и данас рађа. Међутим, Ирод и иродовци и даље постоје, живе и делају у многим личностима, у понашањима и ставовима многих људи. Као о оном првом Божићу, тако и о овом данашњем, они страхујући и зазирући гледају у наручје многих мајки са злим намерама да им погибе децу. И не само то. Они загледају чак и утробе њихови мајки, да погубе децу која се још нису ни родила. Славећи данас Божић, Богорођење Онога који је узрочник сваког рођења, на велику нашу жалост, морамо и о томе да говоримо. Неке статистике показују да у неким подручима више умире него што се рађа, То је место на коме морамо да застанемо. И да се запитамо чему воде масовна чедоморства деце која се још нису ни родила? Како то можемо да објаснимо у вези са еванђелиским начелима Онога чије Рођење данас славимо? Како да се то усклади са Божијим речима у којима се каже да је Бог "створио човека по обличју својему",.... мушко и женско, створи их"; и рече им: "рађајте се и множите се и напуните земљу ..." ( I Мојс, I , 27 – 27 ). Иродови следбеници се боре кроз векове и налазе све нове начине "да погубе витлејемско Дете" и многу рођену и нерођену децу. Они то и данас чине служећи се средствима сваке врсте: отровима и опијумима, наркоманијом и алкохолизмом, порнографијом и саблажњивим књигама, богоборством и идолопоклонством, ширењем сујеверја и секташтва, служећи се радиом, телевизијом, интернетом и другим сличним изворима. Ово је једана од најтежих раскрсница савременог живота, где бисмо данас требали да се зауставимо. И да прелистамо своје савести доживљавајући у исто време божићне радости и трагедију витлејемске деце, чији "плач и ридање и нарицање много ", још увек међу нама се чује.

Шта да чинимо питаће многи. На једном месту је описано шта се десило у једном малом градићу, који је био порушен у току рата. Пре него што су почели да обнављају своје куће, људи оног места су почели да обнављају цркву. На питање, зашто то чине пре обнове својих домова, један од њих одговори: морамо себе најпре да обновимо, да бисмо могли да обнављамо све остало. Тако бисмо и ми сви и сваки од себе требали да почнемо размишљајући о нашим данашњим приликама живота."Верујем да се решење тајне данашњег мучног света налази у речима: Бог је љубав". Ово су последње речи које је на самртничкој постељи записао један велики светски мислилац.

Да опет поновим речи Боговидца:"У томе се показа љубав Божија нама што је Бог Сина својега Јединороднога послао у свет да живимо Њиме"( Јн IV, 1). Божић је најпре тајна неограничене Божије љубави према људима. Божић је и задатак да људи живе животом Господа Исуса Христа, да се "живећи Њиме" руководе Његови начелима, Његовом љубављу, Његовим наравима. Ту ће наћи смисао и одговоре на сва друга питања света и живота.

Са жељом да тако прославите и доживите Божић честитам вам свима овај велики Празник над Празницима, Рођење Господа нашег Исуса Христа уз велики поздрав;

GOD’S PEACE BE UNTO YOU
CHRIST IS BORN!

It is not possible with a brief thought and a few words to explain Christmas, the holiday which we celebrate today our dear spiritual children, brothers and sisters in Christ. Christmas is the day the God-man was born in Bethlehem of Judea by the Holy Spirit and the Most Holy Mother of God. What is the essence of this event? To this question, the Holy Evangelist answers: “In this was manifested the love of God towards us, because that God sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him.”(I John 4-9).

In the Old Testament, people felt that God was far from them and that they were far from God. The holy people of God wrote about it, the prophets spoke about it and poets sang about it. They dreamed and longed to come closer to God and for God to come closer to them. Christmas is an event when those centuries-old longings and spiritual dreams of the people of the old world were realized. God was born as man and found Himself close to all people. Not far away, as they thought, on some distant mountain. The Godman came to earth as a Saviour, not as a heavenly legislator, with a collection of religious, moral or social laws and regulations. He came as the Saviour to constantly save people, to show them the right ways of life, to share with them joy and pain, to help them carry the burden of their life, to forgive them and to cleanse them of sins, to constantly teach them who they are, where they are from and where they are going.

Christmas is not the end of one story, but the eternal beginning of an event that happens again with the birth of every human on earth. Around the world, many people write and wonder asking the question: why have we weakened? We have weakened in marriage and family. We have weakened in giving birth to and raising new generations. Our interpersonal relations (social, interethnic and international) have weakened. We have weakened in running a business, economy, schooling, education. In many life plans we have become overpowered by fears, dangers, obstacles and crises of various kinds.

There is a story which describes a sad event. A mother brought her only son to a doctor begging the doctor to give him an injection against drug addiction. After a doctor talked to this young unfortunate man for a long time, he said to this mother: there isn't an injection which could cure this young man's illness. He doesn't see around himself anything joyful, good or beautiful. Everything is dark in his eyes. He suffers from meaninglessness, hopelessness and disappointment. He should be cured by dealing with these issues."

And in many other cases, there have been big accidents, troubles and crises, because people have lost their sense and awareness of the true meaning and purpose of life. "They think they are alive, but they are dead," says a divine mystic. They don't know who they are and what they are like. They don't know where they are from and where they should go.

The first Christmas was greeted by many and they rejoiced in Him: heavenly angels, shepherds of Bethlehem, prominent wise men and many others. Some were still concerned, saddened, and even frightened. Among these was the first king Herod, the most prominent of that area at that time. He was a man of clear mind, but of a very evil nature, with a murky heart and an unclean conscience. He was a murderer, even of his own children, a multiple divorcee, lustful and a lover of money. "What is this miracle in Bethlehem?" Has not a prophet been born, a future ruler, who could endanger my throne, my security and my comfort? ” That's what Herod thought to himself.

That is why he decided to "execute the Child", who was born in Bethlehem in a strange way. When he did not find him, " when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under" (Mt. II, 16). This is how Jeremiah’s prophecy was fulfilled: Rachel mourns for her children, and she will not be comforted, for they are not. " (Mt. II, 17-18). That was twenty centuries ago.

The God-Child of Bethlehem is constantly born in the hearts of many millions of people over the centuries, as it used to be in Bethlehem. That is how He is being born today. However, Herod and the Herodians still exist; they live and act in many personalities, types of behaviors and attitudes present in many people. As it was the case during that first Christmas, they (Herodians) act the same way today: they look at the arms of many mothers with fear and disgust and evil intentions to kill their children.

And not only that. They even stare at the wombs of those mothers, to execute children who have not even been born yet. Even on this day when we celebrate Christmas, the birth of the One who is the cause of every birth, to our great sorrow we must also talk about this. Some statistics show that in some areas more people die than are being born. This is a moment where we have to pause and ask ourselves, what is the cause of the mass murder of the children who have not even been born yet? How can this be harmonized with God's Gospel according to which it is said that God "created a man in His own image", ... male and female, created them "; and He said to them, "Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth ..." (Genesis, I, 27-27).

Herod's followers have been fighting for centuries and keep finding new ways to "execute the Child of Bethlehem" and many children born and unborn. They still do it today, using means of all kinds: poison and opiums, drugs and alcoholism, pornography and derogatory books, and idolatry, spreading superstition and sectarianism, using radio, television, the Internet and other similar sources. This is one of the most difficult crossroads of a modern life, where we should pause at the moment and to scan through our conscience, experiencing at the same time the Christmas joys as well as the tragedy of the children of Bethlehem, whose "crying and sobbing and wailing" we can still hear today.

Many will ask what can we do. There is a story about a small town, which was destroyed during the war. Before they started rebuilding their houses, the people of that town started rebuilding the church. When asked why they do that before renovating their homes, one of them answered: we must first rebuild (renew) ourselves, so that we can rebuild everything else. That is how we should all start thinking about our current circumstances in life. "I believe that the solution to the secret of today's troubled world lies in the words: "God is love" These are the last words written on his deathbed by a great world thinker.

Let me repeat the words of the  St. John: "In this the love of God was shown to us, because God sent his only begotten Son into the world to live by Him" (Jn IV, 1). Christmas is first of all the secret of God's unlimited love for people. Christmas is also a task for us to live the life of the Lord Jesus Christ, to be "living by Him" guided by His principles, His love, His nature. There we will find meaning and answers to all other questions of the world and life.

With a wish for you  to celebrate and experience Christmas in this way, I congratulate you all on this great Feast of Feasts, the Birth of our Lord Jesus Christ with great greeting.
